Dating the dolls in history

This has probably been discussed before, and maybe I'm dense for asking. It could even be mentioned in the books, but I've missed it.

The question is...The year date of the dolls
is that for the year they were 'born' or the year that they are 10.?
Like say, Samantha's year is 1904. Is she 10 in the year 1904 OR is she born that year? I'm guessing that she's 10 in 1904 because that would make more sense. Is this correct???

Thanks so much for your reply. I know it sounded stupid to ask and I had actually never thought about it before, but DD brought it up and I wasn't sure of the answer.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Sam turns 10 in 1905. Each series starts in xxx4, and goes from there to xxx6. I figured this out reading Felicity's set, since the ad they put in for Ben running away is dated 1775.

Yeah, I could have sworn Happy Birthday Kirsten mentions that she was born in 1845.

* Kaya: Summer 1755
* Felicity: April 21, 1765
* Josefina: March 19, 1815
* Kirsten: June 8, 1845
* Addy: Spring of 1855 (Celebrated on April 9)
* Samantha: May 26, 1895
* Kit: May 19, 1923
* Molly: April 22, 1934

Thanks for that post on the actual birthdays with the year and all. I've seen the month and day listed before, but never the year.

Wow! Thanks for the dates. So, Kit seems to be the "oldest" of the girls. Which is really funny, as I always assumed she'd be the youngest.

The books aren't really consistant with dates (just look at Kit's birthday, that means she turns ten in 1933, so her first books must take place late 1932/earl 1933). I kind of like this, they don't pretend history didn't happen, but center the girls around actual history.
